There is exponential growth of medical information being published every day. Modern day medicine expects the health care providers to keep up with the latest information and adapt them into their daily practice as part of best clinical practice and evidence based medicine. CPG not only plays a very important role in disseminating information but also setting the minimum standard for the country; taking into the consideration of our local needs, demands, constraints, limitations and resources allocations. The title of this CPG has changed from hyperlipidaemia to dyslipidaemia as well as addition of new sections, reflecting the emergence of new knowledge in the pathophysiology of the conditions as well as paradigm shift in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies since the first edition which was launched in 1994. The excellent traditions of the expert panels from the various sections of the practicing medical communities with interest in lipid for this CPG remains unchanged.
